Out of the Cold

Providing emergency warmth for people in need

Our Place Society invites you to be part of our Out of the Cold campaign to raise the much needed funds that will enable us to stay open longer hours from October through March.

Since most emergency shelters do not open until late evening, it is difficult for homeless individuals to find a warm, safe place to keep dry in the hours after dinner. Our Place Society is helping with this problem by extending the opening hours of our drop-in centre until 9:00 pm each night.

Extending our hours benefits the whole community: it provides for the basic needs of the most vulnerable among us, and also helps reduce crime and other neighborhood disturbances as noted by the Victoria Police Department. By caring for our most vulnerable citizens, we all benefit.

Many generous individuals and businesses hold charitable events and fundraising campaigns in advance of the holiday season. Many supporters also hold drives for basic necessities like warm clothing, blankets, socks, and toiletries.

This year, consider Our Place as your charity of choice and we will celebrate your generosity by listing you on our Out of the Cold Supporters . Not only will you help provide warmth, nourishment and shelter for the homeless,

Would you like to support our Out of the Cold campaign? To find how you can participate please contact us at [email protected] or call 250 413 3161 extension 281. If you are considering organizing a fundraising event, please review our Community Fundraising Events Guidelines for more information.

To make a pledge or designate your annual charitable proceeds to Our Place Society’s Out of the Cold campaign, you may do so by phone, by mailing in a cheque made to Our Place Society, or online at www.ourplacesociety.com (please make reference to Out of the Cold on cheque or online donation). Your gift is most appreciated and will be used directly to provide warmth and nourishment for people in need.
