What a wonderful Christmas Meal at Our Place. Our heartfelt thanks go out to our amazing kitchen crew, all the volunteers, dignitaries, community leaders, wondrous staff, and our donors who make it possible. To show our appreciation of your continued support, we put together this wee video with festive music from local singing sensation Lola.
Around 1,000 plates of home-cooked turkey and all the trimmings was served to Victoria’s most vulnerable citizens at Our Place’s family table for a special Thanksgiving meal on Wednesday, Oct. 4. Through the generous support of donors, community groups and volunteers, local politicians and media representatives from TV, radio and print rolled up their sleeves to dish out a full meal of turkey, potatoes, garden veg and yummy dessert.
A Pathway out of Poverty
When I look out of the windows from Our Place on Pandora, I see a veritable flock of large metallic cranes constructing new buildings in our downtown core. While part of me relishes the thought of more and much needed housing, another part of me wants to turn this economic boom into a positive for the most vulnerable citizens in our community.

Victoria students turn homeless shelter into a lesson in giving back
Global TV: Students at a Victoria middle school are volunteering at a controversial homeless shelter, turning a controversial decision into a life lesson. Neetu Garcha reports.
Community comes together to serve over 700 meals to the homeless and impoverished of Greater Victoria. Local politicians and dignitaries joined Our Place volunteers and staff to make everyone feel like family this Easter by not only serving a special meal, but taking the time to listen to those whose voices are often the last to be heard.

The Big Latke Lunch & Dreidel Spin-off - Bringing Hanukkah to Our Place
VICTORIA, B.C. – To celebrate Hanukkah – the Jewish Festival of Lights – eager and excited volunteers of the Congregation Emanu El took over the kitchen at Our Place on Wednesday, Dec. 28 for the third annual The Big Latke Lunch. The one common denominator that links all faiths during the holiday season is a special feast. Combine that with the spirit of sharing, family and friends, and suddenly the meal becomes an event.
