Announcing the eight competing kitchens participating in the Hungry Hearts Culinary Competition:
Check back for the names of the competing chefs and the signature dishes they will be presenting at the September 10 gala fundraiser. We will also be giving a glimpse of their dishes during our Hungry Hearts broadcast on CHEK on September 3rd. Stay tuned!
Important dates:
We are excited to present the return of the Our Place’s popular Culinary Gala. Hungry Hearts is presented by PwC in September of 2022. This high-profile food competition has raised an incredible $1,075,000 for Our Place over the past eight years and is considered Victoria’s favourite culinary fundraiser. We hope you will consider being a part of the 9th anniversary event.
We truly could not do this without the support of our community. We are asking you for your help to make this event the best yet. Please consider supporting Hungry Hearts and Our Place by donating to our Live or Silent Auctions. We also offer a great event sponsorship package if you would prefer to support the event with a monetary contribution.
Our auctions will be held online at www.hibid.ca and can be accessed by all. Opening up our auctions means we are able to promote our supporting businesses. and their donated products and services to thousands of people across the region. Donors will be recognized on our event webpage with a link back to your business. We will also thank and acknowledge you in a Times Colonist display ad and on social media.
In addition to the great marketing benefits, donors and bidders will have the satisfaction of helping to provide thousands of people with a feeling of hope and belonging. You would be funding warm, nutritious meals, counselling, hot showers, free clothing, programing and outreach services to Victoria’s most vulnerable: the working poor, the impoverished elderly, the mentally and physically challenged, the addicted, and the homeless.
All funds raised at Hungry Hearts will directly support Our Place and will allow us to meet the critical needs of our most marginalized members of society. Please consider helping us transform the lives of others by making a donation to the event. This year, the money raised will go to our food security program. For so many, who access our vital programs and services, it all starts with a meal!
Auction donors: We ask that auction donations be received no later than August 20, however if you can get them to us sooner it would be incredibly helpful. We are able to arrange for pickup of your donation with the support of Maximum Express. Please make sure to list your website so we can help promote you! The more you can describe your product(s) or service(s), the better! If you need any additional information please contact Steven Seltzer at: (Office) 250-940-5064 or by email stevens@ourplacesociety.com .
Thanks in advance for your support!

Guests were invited to “vote with their heart” in crowning their favourite dish. With over 2,100 votes cast through the Times Colonist website, the winner is Fireside Grill.
Our Place took a multi-pronged approach to Hungry Hearts, its annual fundraiser, with the culinary competition, as well as an online auction and a virtual gala.
