We are excited to announce that Cassie J. Doyle is this year’s guest speaker at Our Place Society’s Virtual Annual General Meeting Sept. 15, 2021 at 6pm.

An engaging and dynamic speaker with a passion for her work – and Our Place Society’s work – Ms Doyle has served as the chair of BC Housing since 2017, during a time of significant investment and support for housing Victoria’s homeless.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, B.C. Housing has invested millions in purchasing hotels and other sites in order to offer the region’s most vulnerable population a home. Our Place Society is proud to operate several of these sites.

Ms Doyle has always had a keen interest in social housing. Her career began with a decade of senior roles related to social housing through the City of Ottawa Non-Profit Housing Corporation. When she returned home to B.C., she led the development of the Homes BC program, as B.C.’s Deputy Minister of Housing, Recreation and Consumer Services from 1993-1996. Today, she is a member of the B.C. Coalition to End Youth Homelessness.

A former deputy minister with both the federal and B.C. provincial governments, Ms Doyle is currently director with the Fraser Basin Council and the Institute of Research on Public Policy, and she chairs the Canada Energy Regulator. She was Canadian Consul General in San Francisco and the Silicon Valley, and CEO of the Canadian Centre for Resources and Development at UBC.
